EP on Spotify – Cassandra

Yeah, so I often can’t afford to overthink creative projects because then they join the graveyard of partially begun dreams that never come into reality.

So I’ve written a few songs over the last couple of years that I had never spent the time to upload onto Spotify. I always enjoy making a new song… although generally my rate is like 1 song a year, so they’re always quite a treat when my brain gets its stuff together and makes one.

Which brings us to my latest EP – Cassandra.

This is the result of showing up to school an hour early and basically sight reading each of the songs one time. I slapped these very first drafts onto Spotify for now, with the idea that at least those songs are now in the world. Maybe one day I’ll spend the time and energy to record them well. But I’m happy they’re there. (Also it turns out that I had already recorded “I Like What I See“, so there’s really only 3 new songs).

Roanoke is a song I wrote for my class during Distance Learning. Roanoke was the theme of our year: a space colony lost in the stars that my co-teacher and I dreamed up to match the Zoom screen theme. I made a whole app for it and gamified a lot of our learning through it. It was a lot of fun! My way of making the best of a difficult situation.

Cinnamon Roll is a song I wrote for Priscilla ages ago but had never sat down and recorded. It’s got some great lines, and I think the recording really shines after the halfway point.

Exactly Where You’re Supposed to Be is based on a bench at Brave Trails. I wrote it for a talent show we had there. It killed, but it was an especially focused audience for the song. Hopefully other people enjoy it… or maybe a kid from Brave Trails will stumble upon it and smile.
